I see photography as a means for collecting perspectives and unearthing connections. As I am going through my 20s and developing a philosophy of life, I am also developing a philosophy of photography—seeing from a place of total transparency, no judgement on things I am not. Each time I look through my viewfinder I am choosing certain elements to describe the essence of my subject—Photography is dynamic, an exploration of roles: observer and observed, a kaleidoscope of perceptual possibility.

How can we as the artist know deeply and certainly what we need to include in our compositions? What is absolutely necessary to tell the story? I am seeking out those essential descriptive elements and synthesizing a way of seeing in an attempt to connect the innumerable pieces that make up this pixelated puzzle. While I see myself as an observer on a universal scale, photography gives me those intimate moments of discovery on a micro level. It brings my focus back to what is necessary.

Integrating science and philosophy into photography to present an absolutely undeniable truth is the deepest purpose of my medium. I consider much of my work to embody a minimalistic style, harmonious in color scheme. New subject matter is always a new way to challenge how I see. Surrealistic by nature, photography captivates me. Frequently the best work I do is when I am loosely tied to my immediate reality. A crucial facet of my artistic view is my disconnection with reality. I live highly presently, especially when I create. I repeat this to myself: maintain the perspective of the perspectiveless, be humbled by the space and time you are given here and now. Your perspective is only as broad as the connections you allow yourself to see.
